They were both fed-up with builders diluting designs - and seeing customers deprived of their individual place of refuge - only because their builder had convinced them that their dream could not be a reality. Andy PinkasAndy is a craftsman. As well as being a builder, Andy is a qualified carpenter and would rather take a little longer to construct a quality, sustainable home - than take the shortcuts sometimes used in the building industry. Every home that Andy has built since 2003, has been built to maximise thermal efficiency. His experience in building homes for extreme climates such as Alaska and Utah, has taught him the benefits of constructing thermally efficient homes, which are particularly suited for Canberra. Andy has also developed innovative and practical construction techniques for building strawbale homes in ACT over recent years and is considered Canberra’s leading strawbale construction expert.
Andrew FultonPursuing his passion in residential building design, Andrew has been researching and developing sustainable housing design and construction techniques for over 15 years – long before the environment became a fashionable addition to the building industry. His experience has led him from large commercial firms in both the architectural and landscape architectural fields in Australia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Wanting to make a difference, Andrew made the shift into residential design and construction to focus on changing the minimum, common, basic standard approach in local residential building. With this desire to design and build sustainable homes, Andrew can show how a home using environmental techniques can maintain its' individual aesthetic.
